Sts Digital South Africa
With the continued success of Sts Digital in the UK, Sts Digital has expanded its operations to South Africa with the opening of its new office in Johannesburg.
Telecommunications is one of the fastest growing sectors of South Africa's economy, with the mobile communications market being the 4th fastest growing in the world. The communications sector, together with transport and storage, accounts for almost 10% of gross domestic product (GDP). South Africa currently has cellular penetration of about 98%. There are three network operators, Vodacom, MTN and Cell-C who provide services to approximately 80% of the population.
A recent study reveals that 75% of South African companies have already deployed smartphones within their organizations, compared to almost none 2 years ago. According to Deon Liebenberg, Regional Director for Sub Sahara Africa at Research in Motion (RIM), these results show that enterprise mobility solutions are no longer just nice to have. They're essential for businesses that want to be competitive, responsive and efficient. Smartphones are now mainstream devices within South African businesses, but the smartphone revolution has only just begun. (IT New Africa, Feb 2010)
This represents an enormous opportunity for STS Digital South Africa. The market is growing rapidly, however companies are still struggling to formulate and implement a mobile strategy and ensure user adoption and efficiency.
